arrow  Live from Raw Spirit Fest, Sedona, Arizona

We often remind you that part of Going Raw and Staying Raw is keeping inspired. Well, this weekend has already powerfully re-inspired me.

I'm at the Raw Spirit Fest in Sedona, Arizona. The festival started yesterday afternoon and already I'm totally pumped on being Raw and being Here.

I'll keep this short because I'm writing this in my hotel room early Saturday morning, and breakfast at Raw Spirit Fest opens at 7 a.m. After last night's wonderful supper I don't want to miss a single meal at this event.

I wanted to drive my new Toyota Prius across the country to this event. But time management and circumstances pushed me into flying here. After stoically suffering the now-routine indignities of Homeland Security, I arrived at Phoenix airport Thursday evening. I picked up my priceline.com $11 rental car from Hertz and discovered that $24 per-day in State and airport taxes made it less of a bargain than I had expected. Oh, well!

I drove up to Sedona (literally, UP. Phoenix is 1500 feet above sea level, Sedona is 4500), checked into the hotel, and had a good night's sleep. I was up before dawn Friday morning and spent six hours exploring the beautiful countryside of Sedona. While I had spent two months exploring Arizona back in '99 and '00, I had missed Sedona. Tucked between Prescott and Flagstaff, it's an entirely different community than anything around it, with a unique, inspiring landscape.

After a great morning of sight-seeing I headed over to the Radisson Resort for check-in. The first person I met - Linda at the registration table - took one look at my name tag and came around the table to give me a big hug. Linda was the first of many people I met yesterday that were regular readers of this newsletter, and she wanted to thank me for the inspiration that the newsletter has given her over the years.

The next person I saw was Debbie Charles, whom I'd attended Brenda Cobb's Living Foods Institute with. I then ran into Wendy Sharon, another fellow Living Foods classmate. The next person I met saw my Creative Health Institute name tag and told me how her sister had healed her cancer by attending CHI's hands-on program years ago, and how the Wigmore program we teach saved her sister's life and had inspired the entire family to adopt the Raw Lifestyle.

This happened repeatedly all day. I encountered over a dozen people that had been guests at CHI during the years I was Director there. I also met at least four dozen more that were fans of this newsletter and thanked me for what we do here.

Eventually I made it outside to the vendor area. With close to 300 vendors this year, the tables and displays were set up on the golf course. This is a wonderful place to do it - you're outside in the fresh air and sunshine instead of a stuffy meeting hall, and every time you look up you have the inspiring craggy mountains and buttes of Arizona as a backdrop. Truly uplifting.

Nina Levy from Creative Health Institute was there with her helpers. They have a table set up under a big shade tree, with lots of literature and books to share, and did a brisk business inspiring and informing people about Dr. Ann Wigmore's program.

For me, this has been a great opportunity to put personalities with the emails and phone calls that I've been fielding over the years. For example, while Igor and Victoria Boutenko have been friends of mine for years, I've only dealt with their Raw Kids - Sergei and Valya - over the phone and via email. It was super to finally meet them and experience their energy.

So, too, was it a thrill to finally meet Viktoras Kulvinskas, a long-time Wigmore associate and cofounder of Hippocrates Institute, Debbie Merrill, the famous skater, Tonya Zavasta of Beautiful on Raw, Happy Oasis, and... gosh, if I try to list them all I know I'll leave somebody out, and I don't want to offend anyone... suffice to say, it was a grand afternoon.

So I'm closing for now to head for breakfast. The festival runs through Monday, and I plan to attend every minute of it. At supper last night I understand they fed 1,700 people, and that they're planning on even more folks being here today. I'll tell you all about it in next week's newsletter.

If you're in this area and want to experience Raw Spirit Fest for yourself, call me on my cell phone at 478-494-7304. I have an extra ticket to the event and will GIVE it to the first person who shows up and asks!

If you want to hear me speak about Raw Spirit Fest, I'll be at Creative Health Institute next week, from Thursday the 18th until Sunday the 21st.

- Jim Carey

"The gathering of people is what most frightens oppressive government. Wherever freedom reigns in the world, there is open communication amongst people. When we gather, we gain power. When we fail to gather, we only fail ourselves. Therefore, let us not forsake the gathering of ourselves together. It is as vital now as it has ever been." - Jay North

For a good overview of the Raw Living Foods lifestyle, the video Ann Wigmore's Living Foods Lifestyle is wonderful. This is an interview with Dr. Ann Wigmore in 1990, in which she covers all of the basics of Living Foods and their preparation. 1 hr., 57 min., on DVD-R and VHS: www.chiDiet.com/tapes.htm#v61.

Oh - this same video won Second Place in the Educational Category at the Raw Lifestyle Film Festival in LA last March: http://serenityspaces.org/filmfest.asp.

arrow  Raw Living Foods Home Study Program

The Home Study Program about Raw Living Foods was developed from the teachings of Dr. Ann Wigmore at Creative Health Institute. We put this program together because we talked to many, many people who either didn't have the time, or the money, to attend the two-week hands-on program in Michigan. I was going over the books recently and realized that we've shipped 20,000 videos in the last three years! That truly amazed me. I knew that there was a demand for this training, but I had no idea it would be so popular.

Twenty percent of our orders have been International shipments. We've shipped to every continent; in order of per-capita popularity: New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, Canada, England and Japan. We've also given away many complete sets of the program, including DVD players and television sets, all over Africa.

Who received video number 20,000? Two friends from Wisconsin, Natasha and Georgina. They both ordered the complete Home Study Program on the same day, and we filled their orders at the same time. One of the videos we shipped to them was number twenty thousand.

That sure is a lot of videos. I hope that they're being well-shared, and being viewed often. Being a "raw fooder" requires more than just not eating meat. I hear from many people that have thrown their bodies out of balance by eating too much fruit, or nuts, or other raw foods.

Furthermore, the Living Foods Lifestyle includes other components besides just raw foods. There is the "living" aspect of our foods, as well as internal cleansing, colon health, lymphatic system health, proper exercise, wheatgrass juice, energy soup, proper food combining, dehydrating, nutritional and dietary balance (lots of greens), and yummy food prep. All of this we teach at Creative Health Institute, and in the Home Study Program.

Surrounded, as we are, with increasing toxicity in our food and environment, eating a pure and healthy diet is more important than ever. More and more people are starting to see that, and I believe that's why the Raw and Living Foods Movement is growing so fast.

There's a lot more to being a raw fooder than eating fruits and veggies. Dietary variety, purity, balance, sprouting and personal detoxification are important, too. Now you can learn about the Raw Living Foods Lifestyle in the comfort and convenience of your own home. Learn how to detoxify your body, what to eat, why to eat it, and how to prepare yummy raw food meals that leave you feeling full and satisfied. The home study version of the Dr. Ann Wigmore Raw Living Foods Lifestyle includes over 50 hours of video instruction, and a comprehensive manual.

Complete Lifestyle Education Package

The Raw Living Foods Lifestyle has been taught by a series of visionaries in the past century. Dr. Ann Wigmore used it to cure herself of colon cancer in the 1950's, and then taught it for decades at Hippocrates Institute in Boston and Creative Health Institute in Michigan, where she taught others to heal themselves naturally.

If you can't get into a residential program, then the home study program is for you. There's so much material in the home study program - 15 lessons, 36 videos, 350+ page handbook - that you'd have to spend at least a month at a place like Creative Health to learn as much.

The First Lesson is Free - Examine the program in your home for 30 days. Even if you don't elect to continue your subscription, the first lesson is still yours to keep.

Jerry and James,

I just have to tell you that I am LOVING both the book Green For Life and the DVD Greens Can Save Your Life. I read the book in one night and cannot stop watching the DVD. I really can't thank you enough, I feel it is really saving me right now. Victoria just gave energy soup the fashion makeover it so richly deserves. Who would have thought that kale and chard could be so yummy? As they say, the proof is in the smoothie.....

Thanks from the bottom of my heart,
Erica
