Newsletter Upgrades, Changes and Adventures - by Jim Carey Feature Article - Raw Living Foods; A Life Assurance Policy In The News Backslider's Corner Raw Living Food Recipes Special Events Meetings and Events Raw Living Foods Information and Resources Living Food Education at Home Customer Service "You can't please all of the people all of the time." Boy, ol' PT Barnum had that one right. A few weeks back I set out to change the format of the newsletter. I knew, from long experience, that 40 columns of plain text is the only generically compatible way to go. But I felt that the technology was mature enough that I could incorporate a few fancy new features like photographs and colors, as long as I restrained myself. Boy, was I wrong. While many folks complimented the changes, I heard from an outspoken significant minority - Mac users, library computerists, visually challenged individuals, the color-blind, people with email programs that I never heard of, and others, especially about the right marginn - that I thought I'd defined as flexible and adjustable. Even this week's format is another change, and I'm waiting to see how it works. I thought... perhaps if I define the page as a table, and maximize the width at 600 pixels.... Hahahah! Anyhow, let me know: editor@chiDiet.com. Perhaps this week everyone will get the photos. The best part of all of this was that it pushed me into a number of updates on the website. All articles are now being posted to http://rawlivingfoods.typepad.com as they come to my attention, making it easy for me to assemble the newsletter when Saturday rolls around. The secondary benefit of http://rawlivingfoods.typepad.com is that I no longer have to concern myself with the size of the newsletter. It was running over 25 pages, yet I was leaving out material that I knew some would like to see. Now I can post all relevant material. The new website has articles cataloged by subject, with the most recent article at the top of the page. The cataloging of articles is going to be a real benefit. Go to "Recipes - Green Smoothies," for example, and every green smoothie recipe we've printed will be posted there. No more digging through old newsletters on http://chidiet.com/news. With the new website you'll just scan down the list for what you're looking for. Numerous people have written and told me that they set their browser homepage to each week's version of the newsletter (chiDiet.com/news/current.htm). The new website at http://rawlivingfoods.typepad.com should be even better for that, since there are new articles being posted regularly throughout the week. While the new website doesn't have full search capabilities yet, it's possible to do searches from within your browser. That and several other tips are posted online in the FAQ (frequently asked questions) page. Here's another neat new feature: If you're using an RSS feed-capable webpage or homepage, you can now get our daily postings delivered directly to your page as a news feed. Another new feature is being able to get our new articles and postings delivered directly to your email box on a daily basis. If the subscripiton button below doesn't work, please visit http://chidiet.com/news for the subscription button. Perhaps the best part of all is that I'm going through the 3 1/2 years and 3,000 pages of newsletter archives, and posting them on the new website. Within a month we should have hundreds of handy Raw Living Food references quickly accessible online. Let me know what you think! editor@chiDiet.com. Thanks, Raw Living Foods; A Life Assurance Policy Attending the Creative Health Institute Two-Week Detoxification and Rejuvenation Program is surely the best health assurance you can get as prevention and recovery from lifestyle-caused degenerative dis-eases - cancer, arthritis, diabetes, obesity and many others that you can learn to reverse with remarkable results in just two weeks of dietary change from the SAD (Standard American Diet). In 1800 fully 92% of the American people lived on farms and practiced subsistence lifestyle. As they moved to the city diseases increased because processing and chemicals were added to our foods. Now there is a Raw Fruit and Vegetable Revolution as we return to basics to save ourselves. Creative Health Institute has taught the Dr. Ann Wigmore Living Foods Lifestyle program for 30 years. It was built in Hodunk after I visited the Wigmore Institute in Boston and accomplished full recovery. I regained a viable life after "modern medicine" told me that my condition was terminal -- before I was 44 years old. I felt strongly that I had to share this wonderful knowledge with others. That was over 30 years ago. Now I see miracles continually. I only call it a miracle when the person has been told they are terminal and they recover as I did - and now I see miracles continually. Donald O. Haughey If you can't afford a residential program, there's a home study alternative for the Dr. Ann Wigmore lifestyle available at chiDiet.com. SAFEGUARDING
ORGANIC STANDARDS - In March 2006, Organic Bytes (OCA's electronic newsletter)
subscribers voted 96% to 4% in an online survey to launch a boycott against two
of the largest organic dairy companies in the nation, Horizon Organic (a
subsidiary of Dean Foods), supplier to Wal-Mart and many natural food stores;
and Aurora Organic, a supplier of private label organic milk to Costco,
Safeway, Giant, Wild Oats, and others. Horizon and Aurora, who together control up to 65% of the organic dairy market, are blatantly violating traditional organic standards by purchasing the majority of their milk from factory-style dairy feedlots where the cows are kept in intensive confinement, with little or no access to pasture. These same so-called "organic" dairy feedlots are also continuously importing calves from conventional farms, where the animals have been weaned on blood, fed slaughterhouse waste and genetically engineered grains, and dosed with antibiotics. In April and May of 2006 OCA submitted over 50,000 petitions signed by organic consumers to the NOSB, calling on the USDA National Organic Program to put an end to these practices. After widespread media coverage generated by the OCA and the Cornucopia Institute, millions of consumers are being alerted to this issue. A growing number of natural food stores and coops have begun to pull these bogus organic dairy products from their shelves: http://www.organicconsumers.org/nosb2.htm. ------------------------------------ When depression -- even moderate depression -- is combined with aging, it increases the risk of mild cognitive decline: http://www.realage.com/news_features/tip.aspx?v=1&cid=16779. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, especially in this case. Lloyd Grove, a columnist for the New York Daily News, says that the pharmaceutical lobby in the United States, a group called PhRMA, actually commissioned the writing of a fiction novel designed to scare Americans into avoiding prescription drugs from Canada: http://www.mercola.com/2006/jun/20/a_novel_way_to_scare_americans_away_from_canadian_drugs.htm. Its a remarkable fact that most are not aware of that, next to ground beef, lettuce is the most commonly implicated food item for E.coli infections: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12536902/. When I find myself out in the world and am tempted to eat something that doesn't qualify as Raw Living Food, I make my decision based on the following chart of desirability: 1. Raw Living Food So on a scale of 1-11 I try to eat as high (low?) on the chart as possible. Or... I often just do a 2 or 3 day water fast; that's healthier than eating cooked food, in my opinion. Many people expect me to score soy protein higher on the chart than it is, but the chemicals and other detrimental side effects of soy outweigh the benefits of the plant-based protein it provides. (see www.chidiet.com/problemswithsoy.htm) Backsliding but progressing is all about NOT feeling guilty about slipping. If you go to a Chinese restaurant and have the steamed veggies, at least you can console yourself that you didn't have the Flied Cat Poo-Poo Platter. <g> Remember that Raw Foodism is a lifestyle choice, not a religion! Wherever freedom reigns in the world, there is open communication amongst people. When we gather, we gain power. When we fail to gather, we only fail ourselves.
