Weight Loss at Creative Health Institute
- by Donald O. Haughey, founder of Creative Health
Institute
Those who devote their lives to teaching a whole life turnaround, after having experienced it in their own lives, live with stable body weight and reliable life energy that supports their very active lifestyles.
When asked about weight loss I say that my old sick body was 55 lbs overweight and my new year-round weight, after adopting the life-saving lifestyle of the Wigmore Diet, has been constant for over 30 years now. Now my motto is "stay light and travel fast." Admittedly, at 78 I don't travel so fast anymore, but the extra years I've lived make up for it -- especially since I was told, at 43, to "get my affairs in order because my time was short." Quite believable, because my brittle asthmatic condition had threatened my life three times in as many months.
Hiawatha Cromer came here to avoid an early death that seemed imminent. Her desire was to work in the kitchen, stay active and learn this new way of eating first-hand. She had to have a kitchen stool to sit on at work because her knees would not support her. Her overweight condition proved to be 67 lbs more than her rejuvenated body is now comfortable with. Hiawatha now runs a Wellness Center associated with her church, teaching the Wigmore Diet, spends time at Creative Health Institute, and travels.
Victoria Boutenko's family of four spent many months at Creative Health Institute and went on to write the book "Raw Family, and several others (http://www.rawfamily.com). This book has opened the door to a proactive life for all of them, and they now travel North America teaching reversal from degenerative diseases by the Wigmore Diet. The remarkable thing to note is that all four Boutenkos had different life threatening diseases and all four are now remarkably healthy because they turned to the Living Foods detoxification rejuvenation program.
Next, we share the story of Dominic Knipfing who went from 255 down to his very healthy 175 weight level. The Creative Health Institute lifestyle now makes up his. Eat right and experience optimal health and weight. The 28 year story repeats itself wherever people live and practice Dr. Ann Wigmore's teachings. [Don's now 80 years old, and lives on the 4th floor of his restored 1832 Grist Mill pictured at right. He still goes up and down those the steps all day long - no elevator. In winter he feeds the wood fires, and supervises the waterwheel-powered generators used to warm the building by himself.] |

Raw Living Foods Lifestyle - Home Study and Certification
Surrounded, as we are, with increasing toxicity in our food and environment, eating a pure and healthy diet is more important than ever. That's why the Raw Living Foods Movement is growing so fast.
There's a lot more to being a Raw Fooder than eating fruits and veggies. Now you can learn about the Raw Living Foods Lifestyle in the comfort and convenience of your own home. Learn how to detox your body, what to eat, why to eat it, and how to prepare yummy raw food meals that leave you feeling full and satisfied. The Home Study version of the Dr. Ann Wigmore Raw Living Foods Lifestyle includes over 45 hours of video instruction, and a comprehensive manual.
The Raw Living Foods Lifestyle has been taught by a series of visionaries in the past century. Dr. Ann Wigmore used it to cure herself of colon cancer in the 1950's, and then taught it for decades at Hippocrates Institute in Boston and Creative Health Institute in Michigan, teaching others to heal themselves naturally. If you can't get into a residential program, then the home study program is for you. There's so much material in the home study program - 15 lessons, 30+ videos, 350+ page handbook - that you'd have to spend at least a month at a place like Creative Health to learn as much.
The First Lesson is Free - Examine the program in your home for 30 days. Even if you don't elect to continue your subscription, the first lesson is still yours to keep. |

When you order the complete raw living foods lifestyle Home Study Program this month we'll also include over $100 worth of bonus materials:

Paw Paw
Picking and Wild Edible Plants
A Spectacular Ending to a Wonderful Season at Creative
Health Institute
By Sarah Thompson
For years I've been coming to the Creative Health Institute (18, to be exact), and with each passing season the small but potent wheatgrass institute impresses me more and more. What is it in Hodunk that affects me so deeply that I would rather spend my summer laboring in our organic garden than sitting on the beach at Cancun? Is it the good fellowship I have with my fellow raw fooders, a chance to mingle with like-minded people? Or do I simply enjoy watching guest after guest go through this remarkable process detoxification and rejuvenation, satisfied that I've helped empower another human being with this sacred knowledge? Or, could it be more basic than that? Is it the food, and the way it makes me feel that draws me back? More specifically, has my physiology adapted over the years to the local plants?
For years, I've also been eating the wild edibles here at Hodunk. I've actually dubbed Hodunk the "Wild Edible Capital of the World" because I've never seen a wider variety of them anywhere else. Plants such as Lambsquarter, Parslane, Queen Anne's Lace, Stinging Nettles, Plantain and Burdoch Root, to name just a few, grow abundantly on our grounds. This year alone I've consumed at least fifty young sweet red clover flowers. I always knew red clover as a blood cleanser with anti-cancer properties, but this year I learned that it's also a powerful hormone balancer. No wonder I feel so good! (Thank you, Dr. Ann!)
And everyone should be growing Comfrey, especially if you're a vegetarian. Did you know that Comfrey is high in plant protein and as one of the only plants that draws B12 from the soil? It also contains the compound allantoin, a cell-proliferant, which means it aids both plant and animal cells in creating new cells rapidly. Taken internally it helps to build cells, especially bone; used externally it makes a powerful poultice. Personally, I enjoy eating the roots, especially on a crisp fall day like the kind are having now. Which brings me to the Paw Paw.
As fall begins to approach winter, one by one, all of the wonderful plants that I've nibbled upon all summer are beginning to lie down and go to sleep. Every day I find it more and more challenging to forage. This afternoon Donald Haughey, our wonderful founder, decided to take us to a special grove of trees to forage for the elusive Paw Paw fruit.
Now, the best thing about foraging for Paw Paw is that you get to say "Paw Paw." The Paw Paw is a small green fruit shaped like a kidney. The tree is thin, almost out-of-place amongst the maple and oak. Resembling a more tropical plant, it's known as the "Indiana or Michigan banana," growing mainly in Eastern America. The early spring twigs are being studied for a potent anti-tumeral agent known as Annonaceous Acetogenins. The fruit, however, is mild and sweet, and harvesting them with my friends was a treat I'll not soon forget.
The trees were glowing with the brilliant colors of fall, casting a light yellowish-green luminous quality around us. At first we suspected we were too late, but upon closer inspection we found enough fruit to fill our buckets. By simply shaking the trees, the fruit fell easily to the ground. We harvested enough fruit so that our guests and staff can enjoy the nutritious fruit for weeks to come.
Nature is remarkable, especially if you have the opportunity to follow its natural rhythm. Here nature has provided us with fruit at the tail-end of the season that is high in the antioxidants vitamins A and C, boosting our immune systems so that we can enter into the winter months fortified.
My challenge for you is to find the wild plants in your area that are edible. Never eat anything you can't identify, so start out with something simple like dandelion. You'll be surprised at how good you'll feel after juicing the plant with carrots, or blending it (including a flower), with apple and avocado.
Don't forget: if you ever find yourself in the middle of a Paw Paw grove, shake down a few for the deer. They always appreciate a helping hand!

Last month we ran a list (If You DO Eat Non-Organic Foods - The Most Pesticide-Contaminated Foods) of the most contaminated fruits and veggies. Now we have the good news; here's a list of the least contaminated produce for those times that you can't find Organic.
Veggies, listed in order of purity:
Sweet corn
Avocado
Cauliflower
Asparagus
Onions
Peas
Broccoli
The least contaminated fruits are:
Pineapple
Mango
Banana
Kiwi
Papaya
Very few mangoes and pineapple have pesticide residues on them, and when they do they usually contain only one type. Bananas often contain pesticide residues, but rarely multiple ones.
The best way to avoid contamination is to consume Organic foods. But when that isn't possible, then select foods that have the least pesticides on them.
You can buy a non-toxic cleaners for washing produce from most health food stores and some supermarkets. Use this to wash your non-Organic fruits and veggies.
Here is the list of most contaminated foods: If You DO Eat Non-Organic Foods - The Most Pesticide-Contaminated Foods.

Just one serving of some imported fruits can contain enough perchlorate to exceed the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) safe daily dose by more than 25%, according to a new study that measures perchlorate concentrations in fruits, wines, and beers from around the world. The findings are further evidence that risk models for what is turning out to be a widespread contaminant need to be revised.
Perchlorate is well known as a major component in rocket fuel, but the chemical also forms naturally. In sufficient amounts, perchlorate disrupts the thyroid by inhibiting the uptake of iodide, an essential component of thyroid hormones.
Cantaloupe from Guatemala topped the perchlorate charts at 463.5 parts per billions (ppb). An average serving, one-quarter of a medium melon, weighs 135 grams and would supply 62.5 micrograms (µg) of perchlorate. Fruit lovers who eat half a melon would get a 125-ppb dose. For a 70-kilogram adult, the NAS-recommended safe daily dose is 49 µg of perchlorate: http://pubs.acs.org/subscribe/journals/esthag-w/2006/apr/science/rr_produce.html.

We have been blessed with many leaders stepping up to the plate regarding the Andressohns. One of those dynamic and powerful leaders is none other than Victoria Boutenko of RawFamily. We all know it takes a team effort to get a project off the ground and this is what the Raw Family is all about. Igor, Sergei and Valya play very important roles. However, Victoria is the one behind the scenes doing massive amounts of research so she can bring you her new and refreshing ideas. In fact, her ideas and writing have been so grand that she has been nominated as a finalist for the Prestigious 2006 IPPY National Book Awards! WOW is all we can say here at Raw Friends.
Victoria Boutenko has donated a case of her powerful book, Green for Life toward the Andressohn cause. Each of these books will have a special emblem attached, like the one on the right, representing her nomination. As many of you know, the Andressohns have been on a mission to gain the company of their children after a daunting 30 months of no contact. If youre not familiar with the case visit http://www.rawfriends.com/andressohns.html to learn the details. Then be sure to read our updates page at http://www.rawfriends.com/updates.htm. |

I just hung up the phone with Lamoy Andressohn after she explained what a wonderful visit she and her husband Joseph had on Tuesday. She also shared that they looked at a house for rent that had three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a back yard big enough to grow a garden. While Joseph is busy doing lawn care (sometimes 12 hours per day) Lamoy is preparing gourmet dishes for her clients. They have been living like church mice in order to save every penny so they can meet the court's requirements, thus allowing them to have the children every weekend from Friday evening to Monday morning, starting June 1st.
At the end of the summer they will have FULL custody and their family will be reunited after a 38 month battle.
What are the requirements?
- A working, reliable vehicle
- A home for everyone to live in
- Both parents working
What You Can Do
The Andressohns both have jobs and do have a vehicle, even though is does need some work. The next big step is the deposit for a new home. In the past weve been asking for your help and are VERY grateful to those of you who have helped from the depths of your heart. Now we're able to give you something for your donation. Anyone who would like a copy of Green For Life may send a check/cash/money order made out to Joseph Andressohn in the amount of $17.95. This equates to $14.95 and $3.00 for shipping. These books are packaged and ready for shipment. As soon as we get your check we will send you this dynamic book.
Or, if you would like to donate via PayPal or credit card you may go to http://www.rawfriends.com/opendonations.php. Be sure to enter $17.95 for the book and shipping! This case of books equates to a total of $900.00 to help the Andressohns get their new home to reunite their family. Please send an e-mail to Victoria Boutenko at info@rawfamily.com and thank her for being SO generous!!!
We only have 60 of these books and they will go fast, so please hurry with your donation and support a worthy cause
Your continuing support is needed as we pay off the Andressohn's bail bond fees. For more information please visit chiDiet.com/news/LivingFoodsNews20060304.htm (halfway down the page).
