An open letter to the Raw and Living Foods Movement
by Brenda Cobb, author, and founder of Living Foods
Institute
I am writing you to ask for your help in reference to a lawsuit that the Ann Wigmore Foundation, Inc. (New Mexico and Puerto Rico) has filed against me for using the terms living foods and living foods lifestyle and for teaching information about living foods and the living foods lifestyle. They claim that the terms or phrases living foods and the living foods lifestyle are their property with a registered trademark and only they have the right to use them.
My first book is called The Living Foods Lifestyle." It is my story of how I healed breast and cervical cancer using the principles of this healthy lifestyle. I was trained by Shu Chen in February 1999, then director of the Ann Wigmore Institute in New Mexico, who has since resigned. Shu encouraged me to teach what I learned from her and told me that it was Ann Wigmore's dream that many people would learn about this lifestyle and would go on to teach others. I have been in touch with Shu about this lawsuit and she is being very supportive of me, and does not agree with this suit. She has not been associated with the Ann Wigmore Foundation since December, 1999, and has recently opened her own living foods educational center in New Mexico.
The Ann Wigmore Foundation apparently trademarked the terms living foods and living foods lifestyle in 1992 and was cancelled February 22, 1999, before being re-registered in 2004. They let the trademark expire in 1999 and did not reinstate it until 2004. When I did research for my book title this did not come up.
My attorneys are working on this case now and have told me that since there are so many other people using these terms and words and teaching about living foods that we are in need of emails or letters to support that these words have become commonplace among us. I would appreciate it so much if you would send me a letter in support of the fact that hundreds of teachers, writers, and leaders in this raw and living foods movement use these terms, including yourself, if you do, and that you do not agree that the Ann Wigmore people or any one person or group should own the rights to these words or any similar words or phrases exclusively.
The more supportive letters received from you the better it will help this case. Dr. Gabriel Cousens sent me a letter of support and in it he says, "If the Ann Wigmore Institute wins a claim to 'living foods' and 'living foods lifestyle' there will be many additional lawsuits to follow."
I believe that there is always a blessing in every situation and even though this lawsuit is extremely stressful for me I believe it will have a positive result for the greater good of all. This is, of course, a concern to me because what I would like to see is unification among those of us who are teaching this way of living and eating, and I would like to see this suit resolved peacefully in a spirit of love and harmony.
Please help me now so that we can put a stop to this suit without going to court, and hopefully avoid future lawsuits against other advocates of the raw and living foods lifestyle. My attorneys say that if the Ann Wigmore Foundation were to win this suit, then there will be many other suits to follow. I need as many letters and emails from the leaders, writers and teachers in this movement as possible. Time is of the essence and we must act on this quickly. We must respond by May 1 to the suit, so I need your letters by April 25, 2006.
I know that all of you are very busy, but if you would please take a few moments to draft a letter to me by email and then send me a hard copy also, I will be most grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Some entertaining, educational and FR*EE online videos that you might want to share with friends and family:
1) Here's the controversial short animated video that's causing so much hate mail. It's a parable about the town of Allopath; the video parodies the drug companies and conventional healthcare system and many are furious about the truths being exposed: http://www.mercola.com/townofallopath/index.htm.
2) It was on November 3, 2003, that The Meatrix was released online. This short animation discussed the realities of agribusiness farming vs. public perceptions. This week its sequel, Meatrix 2: Revolting, was released for online viewing: http://www.themeatrix2.com/. (Thanks to Gerald Perry for #s 1&2.)
3) There is a revolution happening in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America -- a revolution that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat. THE FUTURE OF FOOD offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. The health implications, government policies and push towards globalization are all part of the reason why many people are alarmed by the introduction of genetically altered crops into our food supply. THE FUTURE OF FOOD examines the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat as huge multinational corporations seek to control the world's food system. The film also explores alternatives to large-scale industrial agriculture, placing organic and sustainable agriculture as real solutions to the farm crisis today: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1340395745035582980. (Thanks to Steven Gibb).

More Good Stuff About Living Foods
By Dr. Flora van Orden III, long-time associate of Dr. Ann Wigmore
Most of us lead time-challenged lifestyles that cause us to make poor choices in our food selections. I am always astounded by the fact that 90% of the money Americans spend on their meals is for processed food. It seems obvious logic to me that this is a prescription for disaster. These foods will sustain your life but will leave you susceptible to a host of health problems that range from the coughs, colds and flu infections that seem to be rampant, or even worse, the far more serious chronic degenerative diseases.
One of the key principles to achieving high level health is to make the majority of your diet uncooked raw food. I believe that we should reverse the 90% processed foods and strive towards having 90% raw food in our diet.
Structural Integrity and Active Enzymes
Most raw food, like your life, is very perishable and must be maintained within a narrow temperature range to stay alive. When food (or you) are exposed to temperatures above 105 degrees vital processes begin to rapidly break down.
One of the constituents of foods that can be destroyed or impaired are enzymes. One of the functions of enzymes is to help you to digest your food. Enzymes are proteins, though, and have a very specific three-dimensional structure in space. Once they are heated much above 105 degrees this structure can radically change. Enzymes function very similar to a lock and key, and once their three dimensional shape is changed their "key function" no longer works and they are no longer able to provide the function for which they were designed.
This may be a major factor that explains why cooked foods contribute to chronic illness, as their enzyme content is damaged and thus requires us to make our own enzymes to process the food.
Many people gradually impair their pancreas and progressively lose the ability to digest their food after a lifetime of processed foods.
Biophotons and Food
Another important aspect of raw foods is the energetic aspect. Without light there is no health. We are human photocells whose ultimate biological nutrient is sunlight.
Dr. Johanna Budwig from Germany has stated that live foods are electron rich and act as high-powered electron donors, and as solar resonance fields in the body to attract, store, and conduct the sun's energy in our body. The greater your store of light energy, the greater the power our overall electromagnetic field, and consequently the more energy is available for healing and the maintenance of optimal health.
What Are Biophotons?
Biophotons are characterized by an extremely high degree of order and can be described as a type of biological laser light which is capable of interference and appears to be responsible for many effects which ordinary incoherent light could not achieve.
Its high coherency lends the biophoton wave the capability of creating order and transmitting information while chaotic, incoherent light simply transmits energy.
There are clear experimental indications that biophotons have an important regulating function not only within single cells, but also between your cells as a network. It is probable that you are influenced by a coherent biophoton field, which regulates functions on various levels of biological control and organization.
Single cells seem to communicate with one another with the aid of the biophoton field by creating continuous waves. The biophoton field is likely a rigidly structured field of information and regulation that coordinates your individual cellular function in a holographic manner at the speed of light, and coordinates their function with one another.
There is a broad spectrum of various frequencies and polarization and, therefore, a very high density of information.
According to current developments in research, the biophoton wave is emitted from the chromatin of your cell nucleus. Calculations show that the helix form of the DNA molecule exhibits the ideal geometric form of a hollow resonator, which allows it to store light very effectively.
Does Food Have 'Vitality' And Can We Absorb Its Life-Force?
Of particular interest is the technique of counting photon emissions. Every living organism emits biophotons or low-level luminescence (light with a wavelength between 200 and 800 nanometers).
This light energy is thought to be stored in the DNA during photosynthesis and is transmitted continuously by the cell. This is where the stored light energy in food becomes so essential.
Naturally grown fresh vegetables, for example, and sun-ripened fruits are rich in light energy. The capacity to store biophotons is therefore a measure of the quality of our food.
Stored sun energy finds its way into your cells though food in the form of minute particles of light. These light particles are called "biophotons," which are the smallest physical units of light. These biophotons contain important information, which controls complex vital processes in your body.
The biophotons have the power to order and regulate, and, in doing so, to elevate the organism to a higher oscillation or order. This is manifested as a feeling of vitality and well-being.
Peace and Love,
Flora

Don't Fight the Healing Process - In the course of following a nutritional program for allergies or other problems, many people experience uncomfortable symptoms. This is known as a healing reaction. The most common symptom is a temporary reduction in energy. They may find themselves sleeping longer, perhaps as much as 12 hours a night. Some people also report aches and pains in various parts of the body, digestive system disturbances such as gas, constipation, or diarrhea, or other miscellaneous complaints. These symptoms occur because the body is ridding itself of the substances that have been making it toxic: http://www.subtlenergy.com/articles/articles/dont_fight_the_healing_process.htm.
(Science Daily) Chemicals in cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, watercress, cabbage and cauliflower, appear to stop human prostate cancer cells from growing in mice by affecting the expression of proteins, says a University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute study, abstract number 5601, presented April 6th at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/04/060405235119.htm.

NutraSweet Toxicity Scandal: Rumsfeld is Guilty of Much More Than
International War Crimes - Largest Aspartame Producer in Europe Will Cease

With all the excuses of Holland Sweetener, obviously the handwriting is on the
wall. With the impeccable Ramazzini Study in Italy showing aspartame to be a
multi-potential carcinogen, peer reviewed by 7 world experts, the studies by
the original manufacturer, Searle, which also showed cancer, have been
confirmed.
For years FDA and the manufacturers have tried to prevent independent studies,
and Gregory Gordon who did the original UPI Investigation
http://www.dorway.com/upipaper.txt
and http://www.dorway.com/upipart2.html
once wrote an article on this.
And the studies keep coming. One in Greece
http://www.wnho.net/new_greek_aspartame_studies.htm
shows neurological problems and memory loss. Bottom line?
Alzheimers. Another in Liverpool shows aspartame interaction:
http://www.organicconsumers.org/toxic/msg010306.cfm.
Actually aspartame interacts with all drugs and vaccines:
http://www.wnho.net/aspartame_interacts.htm.
Dr. Ralph Walton's research showed 92% of all independent peer reviewed studies
show the problems aspartame causes:
http://www.dorway.com/peerrev.html.
Now the FDA is obligated to recall aspartame and invoke the Delaney
Amendment which says if a product produces cancer in animals it cannot be put
in food. Their own FDA toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross told Congress this should
have been done in the beginning:
http://www.wnho.net/cancer_study_obligates_recall.htm.
Aspartame should never have been approved, and how Donald Rumsfeld got
it approved when the FDA said no is told by James Turner, Atty, in the

Backslider's Corner
- by Jim Carey
Backslide? THIS time of the year? I'm down on the farm in Georgia, the days are in the 80's, the nights in the 50's, everything's been blooming for over a month, and wild plants and edibles are everywhere.
Now, if I could just identify them all. Oh, I know dandelion and a few of the others, and none of those are safe from my salad bowl or blender. But if I could just get an expert, like Dr. Flora, to spend a couple of days here, I bet I could live off the land and save that hundred dollars I pay every week for Organic Produce.
This is a lifestyle choice, not a religion. Even if you're not eating 100% raw, how much better are you doing than when you were on the SAD (Standard American Diet)? Eating outside of the program is nothing to feel guilty about.
One big Green Smoothie a day is a great start... By that we mean lots of greens, and just a bit of fruit. The rest of your healthier lifestyle will come with time.
Every essential nutrient is provided by the raw vegan diet when a good variety of foods are eaten.

I am responding to your request in the CHI newsletter about diabetes and raw foods. I am happy to communicate my personal success using more raw foods in my diet. I have been researching natural health for several years and have reversed many dis-eases by educating myself and renewing my commitment to myself for well-being and eating and exercise.
When I was first diagnosed with diabetes my a1c was 12.8 and I weighed over 220 lbs. Like I said, I also had many other dis-eases that have gone away. I have been to CHI three times, the first being December 02. I was there for six weeks back in mid-November '05. For a couple of years my blood sugar has been totally normal. I can even fast and not get the shakes.
My weight is 144 lbs, down from 228. My cholesterol is low, blood pressure is low. My body fat is 25.4%, which is normal.
I could go on and on about the improvements I have seen in my health since adopting a natural diet. I do not eat completely 100% raw but a large content of my diet is raw. I have fruit for breakfast, usually a green smoothie for lunch and then after 3 pm I eat some grains and lightly cooked veggies. I eat a lot of organic virgin coconut oil. I don't eat a lot of salads, I see the benefits of my vitamixer - it does such a good job of breaking down the fibers in the greens. It would really take two hours to eat a salad with all the required chewing to break the fibers. I do enjoy my almond mylk too. I like blending almonds with frozen bananas and tahini with some vanilla and carob powder. I love to make guacamole and I eat it with organic blue corn chips. That is such a treat! I do not do well with wheat and dairy so I do eat a little organic brown rice pasta. Not too often, but sometimes I will eat some soy peanut butter chocolate frozen dessert.
Now for exercise - I love it! When it is warm outside I walk over three miles 5-6 X's per week. I rebound while listening to radio or TV. I workout to exercise videos. I love to move my body! The more I move the better I feel. Outdoor activity is best for me, hiking I love! I am a massage therapist and I have been using Young Living Essential Oils on myself and my clients for years. YL has many essential oils useful for diabetics.
I am not as familiar with type 1 diabetes as I am with type 2, which is the kind I had. I would be happy to do some research in my PDR with YL on type 1 if you like.
Feel free to contact me for further information. I wish you a happy day and keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
NM, NCTMB
