Andressohn Family Update
Vegans Win Return of Children; Criminal Trial to Follow

Joseph and Lamoy Andressohn, the vegan parents whose children were summarily removed from them after the death of their infant daughter by birth defect 28 months ago, will soon reunite with their surviving children, a Florida juvenile court judge has ruled. Judge William Thomas specifically held that the State of Florida failed to prove manslaughter in the death of 5 1/2 month old Woyah Andressohn. He further found that the Andressohns do not pose a threat of future harm to their surviving children. They now await the outcome of their criminal trial.

This juvenile court decision stands for the proposition that a vegan diet is legally sufficient for feeding children. While the judge expressed misgivings about a raw food diet, he did not hear sufficient evidence on that point. The criminal case will explore the sufficiency of that diet in greater detail.

While this victory is cause for celebration for the parents, the conflict continues. A criminal conviction would undermine the value of the juvenile court's decision and enable the State to revisit its attempt to terminate the Andressohn's parental rights. However, it could be argued that such a conviction would not change the conclusion that the parents do not pose a prospective threat to their children. A conviction might also subject them to lengthy jail terms.

People of conscience, concerned that the State has over-reached in this matter, should support the Andressohns now more than ever. A criminal conviction on these charges will set the precedent that feeding a child a raw food (or possibly a cooked food) vegan diet is actionable criminal conduct.

The defense team has spent ten months preparing its defense and has hired multiple expert witnesses to prove the point that Baby Woyah Andressohn died of an impaired immune system which caused her failure to thrive, and not from starvation as the State has charged. Indeed, she lived much longer than doctors had predicted, probably due to her healthy raw vegan diet.

In statements to the media, the prosecution continues to mischaracterize the child's death as starvation when it has become abundantly clear that Woyah was regularly fed a nutritionally sufficient home-made formula.

If you have children and feed them a vegan or raw food diet, the outcome of this case matters to you. Don't stand aside and judge the Andressohns; contribute and pray that they win, or you may be next. Donate at www.rawfriends.com.

- Thanks to Steven Gibb for all he's done to keep this issue in front of the public, even as the media distorts and buries it. In addition, thanks also for the thousands of dollars he has raised to help support the family. For the backstory on the Andressohn case visit CreativeHealth.us/news and do a text search on "Andressohn."

- From Dr. Ann's long-time assistant, Dr. Flora van Orden III - "I'm supposed to be a witness at Lamoy and Joe's trial. The judge has ordered them to feed their baby a cooked food vegan diet. This is the craziest thing I have ever heard of."

Living Foods In The News

Appleton, Wisconsin: The Solution to Crime and Violence Is on Your Plate - At first glance there seems nothing special about the students at this high school in Appleton, Wisconsin. They appear calm, interact comfortably with one another, and are focused on their schoolwork. No apparent problems. And yet a couple of years ago there was a police officer patrolling the halls at this school. Many of the students were troublemakers, there was a lot of fighting with teachers and some of the kids carried weapons. Several years later the atmosphere at the school has changed profoundly. Today the students are “calm and well-behaved,” as seen in a new video documentary, Impact of Fresh, Healthy Foods on Learning and Behavior. Fights and offensive behavior are extremely rare and the police officer is no longer needed. What happened? A glance through the halls at Appleton Central Alternative provides the answer. The vending machines have been replaced by water coolers. The lunchroom took hamburgers and French fries off the menu, making room for fresh vegetables and fruits, whole-grain bread and a salad bar. Is that all? Yes, that's all. For the rest of the story visit http://www.odemagazine.com/article.php?aID=4143.

Dr. Ann Wigmore's Raw Living Foods Home Study Program

You're sick. You're tired. Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired?

The Living Foods Lifestyle was developed by Dr. Ann Wigmore in the 1950's, and refined over the last 29 years at Creative Health Institute (formerly Hippocrates Institute of the Midwest, one of several Institutes founded by Dr. Ann). It is now available in a home study version. If you can't get away for a hands-on program, the home study alternative is available at www.ChiDiet.com. There's so much material in the home study program - 15 lessons, 30+ videos, 350+ page handbook - that you'd have to spend a month at a place like Creative Health Institute.

Examine the program, and even if you elect to return it, keep the book Why Suffer?: How I Overcame Illness & Pain Naturally, by Dr. Ann Wigmore.

A Journey Into Wellness

Now is the time to visit CHI and learn about the Raw Living Foods Lifestyle. The Organic Garden flourished this summer, and we're harvesting by the wheelbarrow full. At every meal we're serving locally grown organic produce, picked when fresh and grown with love.

Interested? It gets better ---

We've had a delightful summer and would like to extend a gracious THANK YOU to all who participated. To celebrate, and to share our success with others, we have created a new, lower rate structure: creativehealth.us/programs.htm.

This is a two week program that includes everything. Well, almost everything. We do require two things you must bring in order for this to be a success - a smile, and a great attitude. We've learned that people who bring these qualities have wonderful experiences with our program. (CreativeHealth.us/about.htm)

We've been teaching the benefits of a plant-based diet for 29 years in an intensive, two-week hands-on program of health education and raw foods preparation. The testimonials of former CHI students and guests speak volumes about the Dr. Ann Wigmore program that we teach - CreativeHealth.us/testimonials.htm (be sure to see Jim's before and after photos). 80% of the guests get more from the program than they ever expected!

Hiawatha Cromer is back at CHI for the fall season, inspiring all of us with her personal experiences in the Raw Living Foods lifestyle.

We Get Mail

The letter we printed last week about "Raw Fooders and Disaster Meals" generated a lot of response. Most raised more questions and issues, but here is one suggested solution:

"Just a thought for people who would like to have food in storage just in case of an emergency when fresh food was not available. Go to www.wholefoodfarmacy.com and have a look. They sell very high quality dry raw organic vegan foods. Shelf life is about 9 months." - Jean Onahleida. [Thanks, Jean!]

Another Point for Fiber

Fiber not only helps maintain healthy digestion, it also may help keep your blood vessels from narrowing.

Increasing fiber intake from whole grains appeared to slow blood vessel narrowing in a recent study. Narrowing blood vessels are commonly seen in people who have atherosclerosis, a progressive condition that can lead to heart attack or stroke.

See T. Colin Campbell's definitive book about replacing animal-based protein in our diets with plant-based protein, The China Study, for more information. See also Scientific Appraisal of Dr. Ann Wigmore's Living Foods Lifestyle, by Dr. Ann Wigmore and the staff of Hippocrates Institute, Boston.

Backslider's Corner

Do we really make our own choices, or are we programmed by society? My personal experience at Creative Health Institute has shown me that Raw Fooders are much more inclined to think for themselves, and to, rightfully so, "question everything." Here's an interesting study about how we make choices: news.yahoo.com/s/space/20051006/sc_space/dupedandcluelesshoweasilywefoolourselves (thanks to Gerald Perry for sharing this with us).

Remember... Raw Living Foods are a lifestyle choice, not a religion!
